’Tis the season

Kicking off the Christmas season at Webster County Library, Ms. Pat, dressed as one of Santa’s elves, greeted the children as they arrived for storytime Dec. 2. After a time of visiting and playing, they sang “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Up on the Housetop.” Using the storyboard, Ms. Pat read “’Twas The Night Before Christmas” to the attentive children. Everyone gathered at the tables to decorate a picture of a tree with stickers and a mantel with stockings. Storytime is each Wednesday at 10:30.

Maben Yard of the Month

DOTTIE DEWBERRY
The yard of Jackie Christopher was selected by the Maben Home and Garden Club Committee for the October Yard of the Month. The yard and shrubs were well maintained as well as beautifully decorated with lavender mums. Jackie also had colorful flags, a fall leaf tree, a scarecrow and pumpkin display, and planters of ornamental cabbage. She laments the damage done by the tornado that wiped out most of her trees. All in all it is a beautiful yard that features fall displays for viewing by passersby. Congratulations, Jackie.
