We publish all letters to the editor that are signed. We do this to give everyone a voice.
All three of our newspapers welcome all points of view for publication and provides the Letters to the Editor page as an open forum for residents to express themselves regarding politics, government, current events and local concerns.
Use your letter to the editor to sway persons to the side you believe in. Write it so your points are clear logical and get others fired up about your thoughts or cause or a candidate.
All letters are printed as space allows and provided they are signed and include address and phone number for verification. Letters may not be printed if we cannot verify the person signing did not write it. Names will not be withheld from publication. Most letters are printed as submitted. We rarely edit letters and only reject unsigned unverified letters.
We value our readers’ opinions even (especially) the ones who disagree with publisher’s, editor’s and staff’s views and opinion. We believe whole-heartedly in the First Amendment and feel it’s number one status is well-deserved.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
So, if you read or see something in the newspaper that you have an opinion about we want to hear from you. Our democracy was not built on silence. It was built on the grumblings of men with high ideals. In this modern age, you have so many ways to contact us: email email@example.com, mail it to 119 North Court Louisville, Ms 39339, message us on facebook with note that it is for publication in letters to the editor.
The weekly deadline is 5 p.m. Friday. Opinions expressed in letters do not reflect those of Louisville Publishing.
Get informed; get mad, get sad or get something but speak up, vote, turnout, make things better with your voice and actions.
