‘Pride of Eupora’ qualifies for state competition

The Pride of Eupora Marching Band competed in the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Marching Festival for Region II in Grenada on Oct. 10.

This competition serves as a qualifying event for the MHSAA State Marching Competition. The band performed its 2015 program titled “The Reckoning,” Song selections included “In Cold Blood,” “The Wicked Flee,” “We Ride,” “Daisy Town Saloon” and “L’Arena.”

The band was rated in four different categories: Field Commander/Drum Major, Color Guard, Percussion and Band. Ratings are categorized as Superior (I), Excellent (II), Average (III) and Fair (IV). Bands must receive an overall rating of Superior in order to compete in the state competition.

Pride of Eupora’s ratings were: Field Commander/Drum Major (I), Color Guard (II), Percussion (I) and Band (I, I, I) for an overall score of I.

The band will travel to Clinton on Saturday to compete in the Mississippi Bandmasters Association/MHSAA Championship Marching Competition.
