Sales tax revenue numbers that reflect February sales are in from the Mississippi Department of Revenue for area municipalities.
The city of Eupora’s sales tax allocation is $38,222, which is up 16 percent from the same month last year.
City sales tax collections for the state’s fiscal year to date (since July 1) are $319,705, up about 2.4 percent.
Mathiston’s sales tax revenue is down 8.3 percent from this time last year, totaling $11,774. However, the town’s fiscal year-to-date collections of $137,308 are up about 2 percent.
MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.
These figures reflect other municipal sales taxes collected on February sales with 2014 figures in parentheses:
• Maben: $8,276 ($6,748)
• Mantee: $2,552 ($2,436)
• Walthall: $1,565 ($1,866)
