From Press & Staff Reports

The Webster County Sheriff’s Department made a felony drug arrest earlier this month and recovered stolen guns in unrelated incidents.

The arrest was made the evening of Jan. 10 when sheriff’s deputies and the department’s K9 unit were performing a safety checkpoint on Hatcher Road east of Maben.

Deputies recovered 28 individual packaged baggies of marijuana weighing 48 grams total and seized $342 of U.S. currency from a vehicle.

The driver, Eddetrick McMullen, 22, of Ackerman, was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He has since been released from the Webster County jail on a $5,000 bond pending a hearing in Justice Court.

Stolen Guns
The Sheriffs Department also recovered two stolen firearms earlier this month. During a Jan. 17 traffic stop by deputies on Highway 46 in Mantee, a stolen pistol was recovered from a vehicle in connection with a 2011 home burglary in Union County

The deputies also recovered two bags of marijuana and charged two men, ages 21 and 24, with possession of marijuana.

Additionally, a Webster County man’s gun was recovered two days after it was reported missing, according to the sheriff’s office. Both stolen-gun incidents remain under investigation by the WCSD.
