Eupora and Mathiston had increases in sales tax collections in September, according to Mississippi Department of Revenue figures.
The $34,797 Eupora collected in September was up $2,428 from the $32,369 reported for the same month a year earlier — an increase of 7.5 percent.
Mathiston’ sales tax collections in September totaled $14,881, up $389 from the same month last year, or 2.7 percent.
MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.
These figures reflect other municipal sales taxes collected on September sales with 2013 figures in parentheses:
• Maben: $7,492 ($6,306)
• Mantee: $3,993 ($2,207)
• Walthall: $1,594 ($1,811)
