Softball team wins state title

From Press Reports

The ‘01 Diamond Swagger (SWAG) team finished out its summer

season with a USFA state title on July 6.
This capped off a great year for the Eupora-based softball team. Five Eupora girls started Diamond Swagger together three years ago and have had three good seasons.
Each year they’ve had good talent around them. All three seasons they’ve at least doubled their win/loss ratio. This year was definitely no different because of adding the right combination of great fielding, speed, power and pitching from our other six girls.
This year the team has not finished below third place, didn’t allow more than seven runs in any game, won six tournaments and has a current record of 50-15. Eight of those losses came early in the year before the starting catcher was available to play. These 11 girls and their parents are special.
The team consists of girls from four towns: Eupora (Kylie Richardson, Alley Reed, Haley Farley, Haylee McCrory, Addison Mason), Kosciusko (Madeline McCown, Josie Meggs, Jordan Pritchard, Joie Johnson), Calhoun City (Abby Vance) and Carthage (Ashley Smith).
