John Robert Fondren

Services for John Robert Fondren, 73, of Brooksville were Aug. 1, 2014, at Macon Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Jimmy Guy officiating. Burial was in the Brooksville Cemetery.
A retired welder of B&W, he was born on July 12, 1941, to the late B.T. and Eva Mae Phelps Fondren. He died July 29, 2014.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Fondren of Brooksville; six children, Danny Jernigan and John Fondren II of Ackerman, Suzzette Freshour of Waynesboro, Paula Griggs, Karl Jernigan and Tommy Jernigan of Macon; a sister, Elsie Edwards of Ackerman;15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
His grandsons, Hunter Griggs, Michael Griggs, Tucker Griggs, Austin Jernigan, Blake Jernigan, Colby Jernigan, Drew Jernigan and Dakota “Coty” Weaver, served as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Macon Pentecostal Church.

Peggy Smith Lara

A memorial service for Peggy Smith Lara, 60, will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 16, 2014, at Chapel Hill Methodist Church, Choctaw County, Ackerman.
An Ackerman native, she was born Dec. 25, 1953, to the late Lucine and Betty Jean Card Smith. Mrs. Lara died March 10, 2014, in Joliet, Ill., from complications of a rare form of cancer. Burial was March 14 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.
Survivors include her husband, Arturo Lara Sr.; five children, Zane Smith, Mandy Debosz, Arturo Lara Jr., Joseph Lara and Carrie-Anne Smith; one brother; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Woodlawn Funeral Home of Joliet was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lynn Dale Boatman, Sr., otherwise
known as “Big D” or “Pops”, went to his final
resting place on Monday July 28, 2014. He
was 65 years old at the time of his passing.
Funeral Services were held 11:00AM Thursday

were; Larry Campbell and Scott Fulgham.
Dale was born on August 9, 1948 to Gladys
and Lorene Dodd Boatman. He was preceded
in death by his parents and three siblings;
Christene Boatman Campbell, Dorothy Boatman
Hines, and Glenn Franklin Boatman. He
is survived by his wife; Marjory Hickman
Boatman of Stewart, Ms., and six children;
Shawna Boatman (Jason) Pounds, Stewart,
Ms. Tonya Boatman (Pete) Loomis, Starkville,
Ms., Lynn Dale (Charla) Boatman, Jr., Eupora,
Ms., Lyndell Kevin (Sue Anne) Boatman,
Stewart, Ms., Brent Dalyn (Melissa)
Boatman, Stewart, Ms., and Kendall Clint
Boatman, Stewart, Ms., one sister; Ann Berry,
Louisville, Ms. and one brother; W. L. Dodd,
Eupora, Ms., eleven grandchildren; Lauren
Douglas, Sean Michael Pounds, Tyler, Marlee
and Mason Jones, Katelyn, Lyndell, Eliza,
Tripp and Avery Boatman and McKenzie
Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Dale Married Marjory Lee Hickman on October
14, 1966. Dale owned and operated
Boatman Truck Sales, in Stewart, Ms. He also
owned Circle B Arena where he enjoyed his
love for horses. He enjoyed riding horses and
hosting and riding in pennings with his wife
Marji and various friends and family. Dale
was an active member of Soul’s Haven
Church in Grady, Ms. Dale was a true and
dedicated family man-in which he loved very
