Collum completes royal slam

Retired Webster County Conservation Officer James M. “Shorty” Collum completed the Royal Slam of turkey hunting in the mountains of Cuauhtemoc City, Mexico,

in May.
This means he has harvested all turkey species in the United Sates plus a Gould’s of Mexico.
Since Shorty begun hunting turkeys in 1968, he has completed five Grand Slams – harvested all turkey species of the United States, and with his kill of the Gould’s species completed his first Royal Slam.

The Gould’s turkey Collum harvested in Mexico weighed 20 pounds, had a beard length of 8 inches and a spur length of one-half inch.
