From Press Reports
Eupora First United Methodist is in preparation for its annual blood drive in August and has teamed up with United Blood Services once again to ensure that lifesaving blood is on the hospital shelves when and if it is needed
United Blood Services works hard to keep the blood supply at a safe level and volunteer blood donors are the reason they are able to supply hospitals like NMMC, OCH and other regional medical centers
The summer months are extremely difficult with schools on summer break and many manufacturing businesses cannot have drives because of the extreme heat conditions inside their facilities, Also, donors tend to put off donating because of vacations; however, tragedies and accidents don’t take a vacation and we need to be ready if a tragedy or trauma happens
All blood types are needed, especially all donors with O positive or O negative blood types!
Information about the blood drive:
Place: Eupora First United Methodist Church
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 19
Time: 2-7 p.m.
You can make a commitment to donate blood by scheduling an appointment online at www.bloodhero.com and use code “euporafumc” or call Frances Hyde at (662) 552-0705.
People always ask, “What do I need to do in order to donate?” According to Roz Johnson, blood center representative, all donors should eat a well-balanced meal before donating, drink plenty of water and bring a photo ID. Also, all donors who are 16 need to have a signed Parent Permission Form that can be obtained from Hyde.
If you have any questions about donating, you can contact Hyde or call Johnson at 662-842-8871 ext. 3018.
