Lounette Perkins Hughes, 72, of Walthall, passed away on June 30, 2014, at NMMC Eupora. She was born December 14, 1941 in Webster County. She was a homemaker, retired from Wells Lamont Co. and a member of Walthall Baptist Church. She was very active within her church, and her love of her family and her gardening was unsurpassed.
She is survived by her husband, Gayden “Hot” Hughes of Walthall; her son Andy (Patricia) Hughes of Walthall; her daughters, Sharon (Gregg) Smith of Columbus and Melanie Hughes of Madison; her brother Jake (Eva) Perkins of Maben; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orestus and Iva Perkins, and her brother Ray Perkins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Walthall Baptist Church. Visitation was at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial took place in Sapa Cemetery. Bro. Willy Weddle and Bro. Mike Rammage officiated. Beth Sewell and Tootsie Doolittle provided music.
Pallbearers were Doug Stephens, Randy Tabb, Billy Taylor, Joey Palmer, and Beau Powell.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Walthall Baptist Church, in Memory of Mrs. Lounette Hughes.
