City sales tax revenues up

Eupora’s sales tax revenues were up about 1 percent in April, according to Mississippi Department of Revenue figures.
The city reported $33,255 in sales tax collections for April, compared to $32,951 for the same month in 2013.
City sales tax figures are up less than 1 percent for the state fiscal year-to-date at $381,398.
Mathiston’s collections of $17,221 in April were down about 8 percent from the $18,744 collected the same month in 2013. From July 1 to-date, sales tax collections are down 2.5 percent at $167,367.
MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.

These figures reflect other municipal sales taxes collected on April sales with 2013 figures in parentheses:

• Maben: $5,717 ($6,530)
• Mantee: $2,165 ($2,667)
• Walthall: $1,197 ($2,712)
