Webster County Extension hosts an open house at its office in Eupora to celebrate 100 years of the Extension Service in Mississippi. Light refreshments were served, and Extension publications and promotional items were available.
Among those at the May 8 centennial celebration are Stanley Harrison; Jennifer Williams, county Extension family and consumer sciences/4-H agent; Brandon James; Margaret Holland; Lisa Stewart, Extension county coordinator; and Romie Davis. Holland represented 4-H Food Preservation during a national trip to Chicago as a high school junior. The Smith-Lever Act, signed on May 8, 1914, established the Cooperative Extension Service.
