Eupora’s sales tax revenues were up 3 percent in March, according to Mississippi Department of Revenue figures.
The city reported $35,927 in sales tax collections for March, up from the $34,792 for the same month in 2013.
City sales tax figures are up for the state fiscal year-to-date by less than 1 percent at $348,143.
Mathiston’s collections of $15,467 in March were down about 4 percent from the $16,164 collected the same month in 2013. From July 1 to-date, sales tax collections are down nearly 2 percent at $150,145.
MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.
These figures reflect other municipal sales taxes collected on March sales with 2013 figures in parentheses:
- Maben: $6,091 ($5,686)
- Mantee: $2,851 ($2,675)
- Walthall: $2,032 ($769)
