Lady Eagles have little trouble with Potts Camp

The Eupora High School Lady Eagles had no problem getting past Potts Camp in the first round of the MHSAA Class 2A State Fast-Pitch Softball Playoffs last Friday and Saturday. The two wins pushed the 15-9 Lady Eagles into the second round against Hatley.
After two days of weather delays, the best-of-three series was set to start in Eupora on Wednesday before shifting to Hatley on Thursday.

Eupora scored 11 runs in the bottom of the second to roll to a 19-0 win over Potts Camp on Friday. Eupora collected 18 hits in the contest. Marlee Ray and Hannah McDowell had three hits each for the winners, while Jalisa Bell had two. McDowell ripped a homer and drove in five runs for EHS, while Bell and Savannah Kilpatrick had two RBIs each. Sidney Bailey recorded three strikeouts on the way to picking up the win in the circle.
The second game of the series saw Eupora score six in the second inning and nine in the third to earn the win. Delta Newman tossed a three-inning no-hitter for EHS, striking out five in the process.
Courtney Hatcher had three hits and three RBIs for the Lady Eagles, while Newman had two hits and four RBIs and Bell drove in two runs with one hit.
The winner of the Eupora-Hatley series will advance to the third round where it will take on the winner of the Riverside-Bruce series.
