The Holmes Community College Bulldogs spilt a pair of games with Northeast Mississippi last Thursday, after dropping a doubleheader to the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers on Wednesday.
HCC was 27-15 overall and 8-12 in the MACJC North Division heading into a Wednesday doubleheader at Mississippi Delta Community College. The Bulldogs were set to close out the season at Coahoma Community College on Saturday.
Holmes lost 6-4 and 15-4 to Northwest, before dropping the first game to Northeast 8-6. The Bulldogs then scored six runs in the second inning of the nightcap to take a 10-3 win over the Tigers.
Jason Hursey smacked a double and single and drove in four runs to lead HCC at the plate in the win, while Kevin Barber and Kyle Washington also had a double and single. Cody Sartin, Cole McBride and Clyde Kendrick each added a single for the Bulldogs.
Deion Ulmer (6-1) picked up the win on the mound, allowing just five hits over seven innings of work.
The first game saw Holmes take a 5-2 lead, only to have the Tigers rally for four in the sixth and two in the eight to take the two-run win.
Ulmer led Holmes with a double and single, while Jaylan Bledsoe, Washington and Kendrick had two singles each. Connor Hill, McBride, Terrell Hodges, Lucas Kirkland and Barber all singled.
