It was quite a difference in being on the streets of Jerusalem and in Maben Methodist Church this past Sunday, April 13, but the pastor and members did the same thing in the annual observance of Palm Sunday, minus the donkey that was used a few years ago.

On Sunday morning during the regular worship services, palm leaves were strewn in the aisle from the door to the front.

After singing familiar Easter songs, the pastor, the Rev. Scarlett Shepperd, preached on the sermon topic “Facing the Road.” Visitors from the area and from out of town were present.

Like many churches in the area, Maben Methodist will be having special programs during the week leading up to Easter Sunday.

The church will be having Maundy Thursday services at 6 p.m. today

Then, on Friday night, the doors of the church will be open for the regular third Friday night singing that brings people from the area and other towns. The singing starts at 7 p.m.
