The Eagles of Eupora High School scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a crucial 8-7 win over Bruce in Region 4-2A baseball action on Tuesday night.
Eupora held a 5-2 lead after three innings, only to have the Trojans score four times in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead. After the two teams swapped runs in the sixth inning, Eupora managed to seal the win in the seventh.
Trey Pittman and Will Bowen sparked Eupora’s 14-hit attack with a homer and single each, while Lawson Stewart, Joshua Rollins and Claude Herard each delivered a pair of singles. Corson Gunn and Lamarcus Caradine each had doubles for the winners, while Rusty Johnson and Jalen Embry had a single each. Embry drove in two runs for the Eagles, while Bowen, Pittman, Herard and Caradine had an RBI each.
Eupora also picked up seven stolen bases in the contest, with Caradine and Johnson swiping two apiece. Pittman picked up the win on the mound in relief of Johnson.
Eupora dropped a 5-4 decision to Louisville in non-region action on Saturday. The Eagles held a 4-2 lead after five innings of play, only to have LHS score single runs in the bottom of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to take the win. No other statistical information for EHS was available for this game.
The Eagles are set to host Nanih Waiya and Choctaw County on Saturday, before entertaining Houlka on April 15 and Okolona on April 17.
