Boston butt fundraiser
Eupora Lodge #423 will be having a fundraiser selling Boston butts to be picked up at the lodge building on April 18.
Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased from any of the Eupora Lodge members at the cost of $25 each. You may also call to place your order in case you can’t get in touch with a member.

Young at Heart Dance
A Young at Heart Dance will be April 11 from 7-10 p.m. at the Starkville Sportsplex Activities Building, 505 Lynn Lane.
This event is hosted by the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department on the second and fourth Friday nights. Music is provided by Bill Davis’ Music 4 U. Come and dance to the hits of the ‘60s to present: classic rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and even some big band-style music.

Easter egg hunt
The Civic League of Mathiston is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. April 12 in Mathiston Park.
The Easter rabbit will be visiting the children so please bring your camera for pictures. The hunt will be for children through age 12, with two age groups dividing the younger ones from the older ones. If it is raining at the time of the hunt, it will be canceled.
The Trailsmen, Gospel Echoes, Tracemen Quartet and the Castles will perform at the Gore Springs Community Center at 6 p.m. April 12. Admission is $5.
Friends of the Library
Friends of the Library meets at Webster County Library on April 14 at 11:30 a.m. Speaker will be Dr. Joyce Yates, author of “Heaven, Can I Go?” Light lunch available.
Young retirement celebration
Join us in honoring Heidi Young for her 28 years of service and dedication as business manager with Webster County Schools.
Young is retiring April 30, and although she will be greatly missed, we wish her continued success. Her retirement celebration will be April 16 from 2-4 p.m. at the Webster County Schools superintendent’s office.
“Couponing 101” will be offered at 5 p.m. April 21 at the Eupora Depot.
Would you like to start couponing, but don’t know where to start? This workshop will teach you the basics, couponing language, how to use your coupons, organization and where to find coupons.

Relay for Life salad luncheon
A Relay for Life salad luncheon will be April 18 from 11a.m. until 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall.
Suggested donation is $10. Tickets will be available at the door or can be obtained from a First Baptist Relay for Life team member. For takeout orders call the church office at 258-3491.
EES plans kindergarten tour
Students who will be entering Eupora Elementary School kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year are invited for a tour of the school on April 23 at 10 a.m.
Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria, tour the school, meet the kindergarten teachers and receive a packet for registration. Registration will then take place during the summer. Any questions, please call 258-6735.
A canning workshop will be from 2-5 p.m. April 28 at the Eupora Community Center.
This is a hands-on workshop to learn the basics of canning vegetables and fruits. There is no charge.
To attend the workshop, call the Extension office at 258-3971 by April 23. Only six slots are available, so act fast.
EWES kindergarten pre-registration
East Webster Elementary School in Mathiston will have kindergarten pre-registration April 23-24 from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the school library.
Parents/legal guardians must provide these items:
- Child’s Original Certified Birth Certificate (long form only)
- Child’s Social Security Card
- Child’s Complete Immunization (shot) Record (original)

You will have to provide residency again in August with utility bills dated in June or July. All residency items must reflect the name of the parent/legal guardian. Only 911 addresses will be accepted on residency items (no P.O. box).

MSU Extension Service Apiculturist Dr. Jeff Harris will discuss “Plants for Pollinators” on April 26 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Mississippi State Trial Gardens on the North Farm Campus.

EHS Merit-Awards Banquet
The Eupora High School Merit-Awards Banquet will be April 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Any organization wishing to make a presentation at the banquet needs to contact the school at 258-4041 as soon as possible.
‘Gridiron Gold’ DVD available
Orders are being taken locally for “Mississippi Gridiron Gold,” a documentary that sheds light on the impact of high school football in the Magnolia State.
Eupora High School head coach Junior Graham is one of the coaches featured in the film, along with former EHS coach Lance Pogue.
The film is available on DVD for $15 and Blu-Ray for $25. To order a copy, call Graham at EHS at 258-4041.
City testing storm sirens
The city of Eupora is testing its severe weather sirens each Saturday at noon through the month of April unless severe weather threatens. The duration of the tests will be approximately two-three minutes.

The Mathiston Public Library has story hour and activities for children of all ages every Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Mt. Zion hosting ‘Walk with Jesus’
Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be hosting a “Walk with Jesus” Easter event for the whole family from 10 a.m.-noon April 12.
Experience a walk-through from the time Jesus headed into Jerusalem’s gates until he ascended into the heavens. Come enjoy time together and explore Jesus’ love in a deep and impactful way. The church will have food and fellowship after the walk-through.

The annual public meeting of the Crossroads Cemetery Association will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church (Webster County) at 3 p.m. April 13. Officers and directors will be elected and other business will be addressed.
The Webster County Baptist Association will hold its final Discipleship Conference at 7 p.m. April 13 at First Baptist Church of Eupora with Dr. David Hamilton of West Heights Baptist Church of Pontotoc discussing multiplication.

National Day of Prayer
