The Eupora High School baseball team came into the week with a chance to get back into the thick of the Region 5-2A race, but instead suffered a pair of tough losses and found itself at 0-4 in the region.

EHS, now 5-7 overall, is set to continue league play on Friday when it hosts the Trojans of Bruce. The Eagles then play host to Louisville Saturday in a non-league contest before paying a visit to Bruce on Tuesday.

Rusty Johnson had a strong outing for the Eagles on Monday and carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning against East Webster. The Wolverines hit for seven runs in the sixth however, and went on to post an 8-2 win.

The same two teams played again on Tuesday and EHS held a 3-1 lead before EW against rallied for the win.

Johnson allowed just two hits and two earned runs while striking out seven batters in the game on Monday. Jalan Embry popped a double and single to lead Eupora at the plate, while Johnson had two singles and Will Bowen and Lawson Stewart banged out a double each. Claude Herard also picked up a single for EHS in the game.

On Tuesday night Eupora scored three times in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead only to have East Webster hit for single runs in the second and third and three in the fifth to take the lead for good on the way to a 7-5 win.

Trey Pittman led Eupora at the plate with three hits, while Corson Gunn stroked a triple and Embry, Stewart and Herard picked up a single each.
