Main Street Maben improvements continue

After much discussion at the Maben board and mayor’s meetings concerning vacant store buildings on Main Street and other places, many of which are in a bad and unsafe condition, some progress has been made on one of the sites on Main Street.

On March 22, Mayor Larry Pruitt, on one of his few days off, with the help of family, and friends, began work on the site of an old Maben business that Pruitt had bought in the past.

This business was once the site of Sherman’s Store, and then later the store of Mr. and Mrs. Clint O’Brian, and last home of Atkinson’s Grocery and Dry Goods.

Pruitt had rented machinery to level off the ground, getting ready to have concrete poured for a future new business.

With the beginning of making ready for this new business, it is hoped more needed improvements will be made soon on Main Street, as like in any town, large or small, the impression made to people passing through by Main Street is one that will last.
