East Webster’s Quantesha Patterson will get a chance to compete against and play with the best-of-the-best on March 28 when she plays for the North in the Mississippi Association of Coaches girls All-Star Basketball Game.
The girls game is set to tip off at 6 p.m. at Jackson State University’s Lee E. Williams Athletics & Assembly Center, while the boys game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. The games are for juniors only.
Joining Patterson on the North team are: Abria Gulledge, H.W. Byers; Alondrea Rush, Horn Lake; Jaleigha Polk, Tupelo; Marlee Hatcher, Pontotoc; Zaida Cox, Ripley; Tatyana Lofton, Murrah; Caprice Coleman, Yazoo County; Jabria Pounds, Nettleton; Katelyn Nunley, Belmont; Grace Elliott, New Site; and Alexyse Thomas, Horn Lake. The team will be coached by Janna Thompson of Horn Lake and Byron Sparks of New Site.
Among those on the South team are Akeyia McDyess of Quitman, Kelentra Gandy of Wayne County and Jazzmun Holmes of Harrison Central. The South is being coached by Michael Thornton of Forrest County AHS and Sam Smith of Stone County.
Among the boys playing for the North team are Malik Newman of Callaway, Shemar Johnson of New Hope and Charles Jackson of Cleveland East Side. Among those on the boys South squad are Quinndary Weatherspoon of Velma Jackson, De”angelo West of Provine, and David McFarland of Raymond.
