The East Webster fast-pitch softball team cruised through its own tournament winning two games on Saturday and two more on Monday to improve to 7-0 on the season.
The Lady Wolverines are set to take on Charleston and Houston in the Vardaman Tournament on Thursday, before visiting Noxapater on Tuesday and then hosting South Pontotoc on March 20 before taking part in the Houston Tournament on March 22.
East Webster rolled to wins of 14-0 over Noxapater and 15-0 over Winona on Saturday, before defeating Ethel 13-1 and Hatley 9-4 on Monday.
Junior third baseman Mamie Hollenhead was struck by a line drive in the game against Noxapater and received a broken jaw, which will keep her out for an unspecified amount of time.
Autumn Frost ripped a homer an double to lead EW in the win over Noxapater, while Kendall Wilkinson had two singles and Kerrigan Clark picked up the win in the circle.
Frost mashed a homer and single against Winona, with Clark, Bailie Springfield and Wilkinson getting two hits each. Springfield was the winning pitcher.
Frost continued her hot hitting on Monday, belting a homer against Ethel and smashing three doubles against Hatley. Jennah Pate and Clark and two hits each for EW against Ethel, while Clark was the winning pitcher. Springfield earned the win against Hatley.
“Right now we have some people out of place and in some new places, so it is just a matter of getting them oriented in the field and getting settled and comfortable,” said EW head coach Lee Berryhill. “We have got a little bit of youth and inexperience, but we expect that to get better as we get more practice in and more repetitions and more game experience.”
