The Eupora High School baseball team took a 9-0 win over Vardaman on Monday to record a split in a pair of games it played in the East Webster Tournament on Saturday and Monday.
EHS began the event by dropping a 9-8 decision to Houlka, before bouncing back to take the win over the Rams. The Eagles are set to face Shannon on Wednesday, before paying a visit to French Camp on Tuesday. EHS follows that up with a a district region contest at Calhoun City on March 21, before visiting West Lowndes on March 22 and then hosting Calhoun City on March 25.
Eupora struck for six runs in the top of the first inning against Houlka, only to give up one run in the first and five in the third. Eupora retook the lead with a two-spot in the fourth inning, but Houlka soared one in the fourth and two in the fifth to take the win.
Rusty Johnson belted a pair of doubles and a single, while also scoring a pair of runs to lead the winners at the plate, while Trey Pittman had two hits and three RBIs. Will Bowen and Brady Love also had singles for EHS, while Claude Herard and Love picked up RBIs and Bowen scored a pair of runs. Also scoring for Eupora were Jalen Embry, Lawson Stewart, Corson Gunn and Lamarcus Caradine.

Eupora scored six times in the fourth inning to cushion a 3-0 lead on the way to the solid victory. Pittman ripped a single and a double to lead EHS’ nine-hit attack, while Stewart had two singles and two RBIs. Gunn had a double and an RBI for the winners, while Johnson, Embry, Herard and Joshua Rollins had a single each.
Johnson, Pittman and Conner Hood each scored a pair of runs for the winners, while Bowen, Stewart and Embry crossed the plate once. Pittman and Herard also had RBIs for the Eupora.
