East Webster bowlers fare well in state event

The East Webster boys finished fourth and the girls eighth in the recently held MHSAA Class I Bowling Championships.

The East Webster boys knocked down 3,288 pins, to finish just 37 pins behind third-place finisher East Union. Tupelo Christian lead the event with 3,618 pins and knocked off second-place Florence 3-0 in the Baker roll-off to take the championship.

Austin Rayborne put together a 746 series to lead EW, while Joel Naron had a 742.

The Lady Wolverines knocked down 2,216 pins to finish eighth in the state event, while Kossuth won the title by defeating Tremont 3-1 in the Baker roll-off.

Kossuth recorded 2,784 pins, while Tremont had 2,708 and New Albany, 2587 to finish third.

Shalyn Dinning knocked down 522 pins to lead East Webster, while Richie Winfield had 504.

The Tupelo boys and girls swept the Class II titles, besting Neshoba Central 3-0 in the girls Baker roll-off and 3-1 in the boys.
