The Lady Wolverines of East Webster High School head into their last three games of the regular season with an 18-5 overall mark and their sites set on going deep into the playoffs.
Last week saw EW roll to an easy 47-20 win over Tupelo Christian before falling to traditional power Belmont 55-34 in the Roberts Challenge on Saturday.
The East Webster boys lost their lone game last week, falling to Tupelo Christian 79-61.
Next up for both the EW boys an girls is a road meeting with county rival Eupora on Friday, before returning home to host Vardaman for ‘Senior Night’ on Monday. The Wolverines and Lady Wolverines then travel to Okolona on Tuesday for their last district game of the season.
Quantesha Patterson scored 27 points for EW in the win over Tupelo Christian, while Kentrina McCurry hit for 10. Patterson scored 12 in the loss to Belmont.
“We really played them well into the third quarter,” EW head girls coach Todd Hutchinson said of his team’s loss to Belmont. “We were basically playing our six girls and they just eventual wore us done, but we played hard and competed.”
East Webster led 24-12 at the half and 35-13 after three quarters in the win over Tupelo Christian.
Samuel Butler scored 25 for the Wolverines in the loss to TCPS, while Malcolm Jones hit for 13 and Derek Jones had 12.
