Maben saw a new business officially opening Jan. 14 after the building had been vacant for months.

The building was previously home to Williams’ Big Star, Larry’s and then Callahan’s. It is located on Turner Street off Highway 15 North and Second Avenue, or Main Street

The new business is La Alegria and is managed by Antonio Estrada, whose father, Augustin Estrada, owns it.

Antonio says he was born in California but had lived in the Nashville area most his life. Antonio and his father have worked in the restaurant business all their lives.

The restaurant, which has three large dining rooms, all with large-screen televisions, plans now to be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant, according to Antonio Estrada, will feature the traditional Mexican foods, along with others.
