1st Pitch Baseball Banquet, Auction slated

The Eupora Baseball Booster Club is hosting it annual First Pitch Baseball Banquet and Silent Auction on Feb. 11.

Northeast Mississippi Community College Baseball Coach Richy Harrelson will be the guest speaker for the event. Harrelson made his mark on the northeast Mississippi baseball community during his prep career at Iuka High School in Tishomingo County. During his high school career Harrelson put himself among the nation’s best.

Harrelson is still listed in the National High School Baseball Record Book for career hits (236), career runs batted-in (226) and career wins (55). During his time at Ole Miss, Harrelson was a third baseman and pitcher for the Rebels from 1993-96. He also played a season in the prestigious Cape Cod summer league in 1994 and one season as a professional in 1997.

The banquet will be held at the Eupora High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. The event will include a silent auction where various sports items and memorabilia will be available for bidding. Local merchants have made donations to the auction as well. Doors will open at 6 for bidding with the banquet meal to follow at 6:30. Come join the baseball team for a fun night and a great kickoff to the upcoming season.

Tickets for the banquet will be on sale through Feb. 4. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, see any junior high, junior varsity or varsity baseball player or contact the high school office. All proceeds from the event benefit the Eupora baseball teams.
