Eupora High school Eagles improve to 6-1 with strong week

The Eupora High School boys basketball team won all three games it played last week to move to 6-1 on the season.

The Eagles, which have now won six consecutive contests opened the week with a 54-47 win over Kosciusko, before rolling past Noxapater 70-33 on Friday and defeating Vardaman 67-52 in the Calhoun City Classic on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles fell to Kosciusko 30-24 and Noxapater 60-38 to fall to 2-5 on the season. The EHS boys and girls will be taking the Christmas Holidays off before returning to action on Jan. 3 when they visit Noxapater. Both teams will also take part in the Winona Tournament the following day.

The Eupora boys trailed Kosy 27-24 at the half, only to outscore the Whippets 13-4 in the third quarter and 17-16 in the fourth to take the win.

Deon Watkins led the winners with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Trey Pittman had 14 points and six boards and Corson Gunn tossed in 11 points. Chance Cooper scored eight points for EHS, while Jamyrian Patterson claimed 10 rebounds.

No individual stats were available for Eupora from the Noxapater and Vardaman wins.

The Lady Eagles had trouble converting layups against the Lady Whippets of Kosciusko, resulting in the six-point loss.

Haley Robinson scored 13 points to lead Eupora, while Jaliyaah Patterson and Jabrieya Morton scored four each and Brittany Cooper tossed in two.
