‘Asleep in the Stable’ at story hour

Dec. 20 was our Christmas party at the Maben Public Library during story hour. We had a small crowd but lots of messy fun was had by all.

Our story was “Asleep in the Stable” by Will Hillenbrand. It tells the story of Baby Jesus as told by the animals. In the stable where Jesus was born was a donkey, a red and white cow, sheep with curled horns, and mama and baby owl.

All were asleep except for the owls, so when the owls woke up baby owl wanted to know who the baby was asleep in the (nest).

Mama told baby owl that the baby was Jesus, the Holy Child. He told him about his earthly mother and father, Mary and Joseph, and his Heavenly Father, who also made baby owl.

The baby owl was concerned about the child being cold because he didn’t have any feathers. Mama explained to him that the Heavenly Father kept him warm with his love.

We then decorated snowman cupcakes to eat with our Cheetos and drinks. Merry Christmas to all and see you after the New Year!
