The Empowered Women’s Organization is proud to announce the success and attendance of Webster County’s social support group for the betterment of women and female adolescents in our local communities.

During the month of September, the organization focused on the importance of breast cancer awareness and the related issues that surround the deadly disease.

Connie Black, promoter and sponsor of the Relay for Life, was our spokesperson for this session. She discussed the risk factors and the importance of preventative medicine to help fight and ward off this deadly disease. Also, Jackie Evans, R.N., from Southaven, shared with us the struggles and victories of being a breast cancer survivor.

We were enlightened with informative information to help detect early warning signs and how to cope with the diagnosis of this disease.

This Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. the Empowered Women’s Organization will host a workshop on domestic violence and rape.

Domestic violence does not discriminate. It happens among heterosexual couples and in same-sex partnerships. It occurs within all age ranges, ethnic backgrounds and economic levels. The speaker will discuss the meaning and the warning signs of abuse, and how to get help to avoid repeated cycles of abuse.

We are asking the surrounding communities to come out and be a part of this wonderful social event. The meetings are held at Soul City House of God on 613 MLK Drive in Eupora.

Come on out and enjoy the fun! For more information contact Deborah Grace at 662-341-1318 or email at
