Blood drive

The United Blood Services bloodmobile will be parked at Golden LivingCenter-Eupora from 1-6 p.m. Nov. 29 accepting all blood types, especially O-negative and O-positive.

Lighting of

Mathiston Park

Lighting of the Park will be Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Mathiston Park. The event will include Christmas karaoke, and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Everyone is invited and churches are encouraged to participate.

The program is being presented by the Mathiston Civic League; contact Betty Jeffcoats at 312-8724 for further information.

Retired teachers


The Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Webster County Retired Teachers Association will meet for the annual Christmas lunch on Dec. 4 at My Friend’s Place in Houston at 11:30 a.m. Charles E. “Buddy” Peppy will bring the devotion. Plan to be there.

Mesh Wreath

Making Workshop

The time for preparing and decorating our homes for the holiday season is quickly approaching.

Let Webster County Extension help you with your decorating needs. Join us at the Depot for a Mesh Wreath Making Workshop on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. If you would like to attend call the Extension Office (258-3971) by Nov. 29.

The workshop will cost $10 and that will cover the mesh and wire wreath. There are only 10 slots, so act fast.


Christmas Parade

The theme for Ackerman Christmas Parade will be “Christmas Blessings — Unity in the Community.” The parade is set for 6 p.m. Dec. 5. Call 285-6251 for more information.

Christmas Market

Eupora’s Christmas Market will be Dec. 7 in downtown Eupora. For more information, contact Christmas Market Director Stephanie Stewart at 258-6452.

OES chili sale

The Order of the Eastern Star will sell chili on Dec. 7 at the lodge just south of the Eupora post office starting at 10 a.m.

Gallons will be $25, half gallons  $13 and by the bowl with bread and drink for $5. For advance ordering call 662-552-1178, 258-2064 or 552-0446.


Christmas Parade

Maben Christmas Parade 2013 will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 on Main Street. The theme is “Christmas: A Season to Serve.”

This year’s theme reminds us that serving others is the purpose of the holiday. This year we honor all servicemen and women by having them showcased in the parade, including military, police, firemen and EMTs. Santa will be giving out candy and taking pictures — all free.

Those wishing to participate in the parade by floats, horses, antique vehicles, groups or bands should contact Maben City Hall at 263-4212.

The parade is sponsored by the Greater Maben Chamber of Commerce.

Band Boosters’


Market Raffle

The Eupora Band Boosters’ annual Christmas Market Raffle will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Eupora Christmas Market.

Only 325 tickets are available and are $20 each. The last ticket drawn wins $3,000 provided all tickets are sold. On every 25th ticket drawn, that ticket holder will get their money back.

The holders of the last two tickets left in the barrel will have the option of splitting the winnings, provided both parties agree. One does not need to be present to win, however, a ticket stub holder or the ticket stub must be present to claim consolation prizes.

Ticket holders must be able to be contacted on day of drawing in order to get permission to split, otherwise, the last ticket in barrel wins.

Christmas Parade

The Eupora Christmas Parade will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 7. The theme is “A Candy Christmas.”

Forms are available at The Webster Progress-Times office (58 N. Dunn St., 258-7532) and at City Hall or from any member of the Eupora Rotary Club. Forms must be completed and returned by 5 p.m. Dec. 4.


Christmas Parade

The Mantee Christmas Parade will be Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. The parade has no specific theme this year other than “Christmas” and entry is free.

Parade entries must be at the lineup locations by 4:30 p.m. Walkers and classic cars will line up at Mantee Baptist Church. Floats and other vehicles will line up in the area at the intersection of Old Dancy and Mantee roads.

The annual chili supper will follow at the Mantee Fire Department, and awards for best floats and classic cars will be announced.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.
