A Louisville woman died of injuries suffered in a two-car accident in Webster County near Dancy on Monday.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Criss Turnipseed said the fatal crash occurred around 3 p.m. on Mississippi 15 North at the Natchez Trace.

He identified the two drivers as Clifford Thomas Jr., 81, of Louisville and David B. Andrews, 43, of Mantee. Thomas was driving a 1999 gold Chevrolet Suburban and Andrews a 2007 black Dodge Ram.

Thomas, according to Turnipseed, pulled off the Natchez Trace onto the highway in front of Andrews, who was southbound. The pickup collided with the passenger side of the Suburban.

Thomas’ wife, Margaret C. Thomas, 78, was a passenger in the Suburban. She was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, where she later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Turnipseed said.

Clifford Thomas was transported to NMMC by ambulance and was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday. Andrews was transported by ambulance to OCH Regional Medial Center in Starkville and was also listed in serious condition.

The accident is still under investigation by MHP. Nowell-Massey Funeral of Louisville is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Thomas.
