Pictures with Santa
The Mathiston Civic League will host “Pictures with Santa” from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 23.
Pictures will be made at the Mathiston Public Library and the cost is $5 per printed picture. Also, children are asked to bring their Letters to Santa. A special mailbox is inside the library to send letters to the North Pole.
Gore Springs Community Center will host a country music jubilee at 6 p.m. Nov. 23. Admission is $5.
Performing will be Good Times Express, Valley Echoes, Doran Henry and Richard McLaughlin.

Margie Ellington, formerly of the Sapa community, will be celebrating her 100th birthday from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 24 at Graceland Center Nursing Home in Oxford. No gifts but cards please. She has a collection dating back to the 1930s.
Shine a Light on
Lung Cancer Vigil
Residents of Webster County will host a vigil locally as part of a global campaign to raise awareness about lung cancer and reduce the stigma associated with the disease.
On Nov. 24 Webster County will join 125 communities across the country in hosting a Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil in partnership with the Lung Cancer Alliance. The vigil will begin at 2 p.m. at the Mathiston Public Library, 298 Scott Ave.
Lighting of the Park will be Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Mathiston Park. The event will include Christmas karaoke, and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Everyone is invited and churches are encouraged to participate.

Let Webster County Extension help you with your decorating needs. Join us at the Depot for a Mesh Wreath Making Workshop on Dec. 3 at 5:30 p.m. If you would like to attend call the Extension Office (258-3971) by Nov. 29.
The workshop will cost $10 and that will cover the mesh and wire wreath. There are only 10 slots, so act fast.
The theme for Ackerman Christmas Parade will be “Christmas Blessings — Unity in the Community.” The parade is set for 6 p.m. Dec. 5. Call 285-6251 for more information.
Maben Christmas Parade 2013 will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 on Main Street. The theme is “Christmas: A Season to Serve.”
This year’s theme reminds us that serving others is the purpose of the holiday. This year we honor all servicemen and women by having them showcased in the parade, including military, police, firemen and EMTs. Santa will be giving out candy and taking pictures — all free.
Those wishing to participate in the parade by floats, horses, antique vehicles, groups or bands should contact Maben City Hall at 263-4212.
The parade is sponsored by the Greater Maben Chamber of Commerce.
The Eupora Band Boosters’ annual Christmas Market Raffle will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Eupora Christmas Market.
Only 325 tickets are available and are $20 each. The last ticket drawn wins $3,000 provided all tickets are sold. On every 25th ticket drawn, that ticket holder will get their money back.
The holders of the last two tickets left in the barrel will have the option of splitting the winnings, provided both parties agree. One does not need to be present to win, however, a ticket stub holder or the ticket stub must be present to claim consolation prizes.
Ticket holders must be able to be contacted on day of drawing in order to get permission to split, otherwise, the last ticket in barrel wins.

The Eupora Christmas Parade will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 7. The theme is “A Candy Christmas.”
Forms are available at The Webster Progress-Times office (58 N. Dunn St., 258-7532) and at City Hall or from any member of the Eupora Rotary Club. Forms must be completed and returned by 5 p.m. Dec. 4.
The Mantee Christmas Parade will be Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. The parade has no specific theme this year other than “Christmas” and entry is free.
Parade entries must be at the lineup locations by 4:30 p.m. Walkers and classic cars will line up at Mantee Baptist Church. Floats and other vehicles will line up in the area at the intersection of Old Dancy and Mantee roads.
The annual chili supper will follow at the Mantee Fire Department, and awards for best floats and classic cars will be announced.
