From Church Reports
On Sunday, Oct. 27, World Harvest’s congregation traveled to Jackson to participate in the 20th anniversary of Mission Mississippi, Glowing for Christ.
Follow the Cross covered 2,489 miles in Mississippi. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes carried a cross to demonstrate the love of Christ and the unity among Christians in Mississippi. The cross stopped at 92 locations for a celebration service where numerous individuals showed a desire to receive Christ and 9,622 people attended these events. World Harvest’s pastor, Bobby McMullen was one of the speakers for this area’s celebration service, which was held in Maben.
The music ministry, along with Pastors Bobby and Eddie McMullen, was extended a personal invitation by Nettie Winters, president, Mission Mississippi, to attend the statewide celebration and worship service in Jackson on Oct. 27 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. World Harvest, along with First Presbyterian Church, Jackson; New Horizon Church International, Jackson; and Highland Colony Baptist Church, Jackson; formed the Mississippi Glowing for Christ Choir, which sang two selections.
Along with Gov. Phil Bryant and other state officials, the powerful message that “Grace is greater than Race” was a moving message for all participants. Mission Mississippi strives to break down racial and denominational walls in Mississippi.
The services began with a moving parade of the counties where each county in Mississippi was represented by a cross and sign. Special keynote addresses where given by Dr. Barbara Williams-Skinner, president/co-founder of Skinner Leadership Institute and Pat Morley, PhD, author and founder of Man in the Mirror.
World Harvest Outreach Ministries was honored to receive such a special invitation to help encourage and demonstrate unity in the Body of Christ, and cross racial and denominational lines so that communities throughout Mississippi can see the practical evidence of the Gospel message.
