Search and Rescue Team called out

From Staff Reports

The Webster County Search and Rescue Team was called out Friday night to search for a teenage runaway who was later found unharmed.

Sheriff Tim Mitchell said the 13-year-old girl went missing from her home on County Home Road around 9:30 p.m. Friday, having left through her bedroom window. He said she ran away and was not abducted.

Mitchell said the Search and Rescue Team was paged out to look for the missing girl in the woods around her house. The team members did not find her, but Mitchell said she was located unharmed about 9:30 a.m. Saturday in a house behind Nail’s Grocery & Deli in Stewart.

“I thank everybody who came out and helped,” Mitchell said, including the S&R Team and Barry Rushing, county fire coordinator and emergency management director.
