The Eupora High School Lady Eagles hope to have a little momentum on their side as they make the drive South to Enterprise on Tuesday to open the MHSAA Class 2A State Slow-Pitch Softball playoffs.
EHS came within just two runs of winning the region and hosting a first-round matchup. Last Thursday Eupora took a 6-3 win over rival East Webster to tie for first in the league, but were seeded second out of the region due to run differential. The Lady Eagles had lost to EW 10-6 the week before and both finished league play with identical 3-1 records.
“We hit the ball and really played defense well,” EHS coach Kaley Harris said of her team’s win over East Webster. Kendall Gibson hit a pair of homers for the winners in the game.
Eupora then took part in the East Webster Tournament on Saturday, beating Houston 8-7 behind a home run by Courtney Hatcher. Later in the day the Lady Eagles lost to New Hope 11-2.
Eupora has no more games scheduled until Tuesday’s playoff opener. As of press deadline a start time had not been set for the two-of-three series, which will all be played in one day. If EHS beats Enterprise, the Lady Eagles will play in the second round of the tournament on Saturday.
