Holmes Community College drops division game

East Mississippi Mississippi Community College scored 35 points in the first half en route to a 55-0 North Division win here Thursday night.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the North Division. Holmes hosts Northwest on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. in a homecoming matchup. The game can be watched live at holmesathletics.ihigh.com or heard at breezynews.com, 101.1 FM, 100.1 FM, and 103.9 FM.

East scored once in the first quarter on a Todd Mays three yard run. Quay Watt blocked the extra point and East held the 6-0 lead.

The Lions then added four scores in the second quarter. Mays added a four yard touchdown run while Dontreal Pruitt connected on two others through the air. One pass was to Lakenderic Thomas from 15 yards out while the other was to Antoinne Adkins from 18 yards out. C.J. Bates also took a punt back 58 yards for a touchdown. Drew White hit three extra points while Mays added a two-point conversion on the other score.

East added one score in the third when Mays scored again from four yards out. White’s kick made the score 42-0 at the end of the third.

The Lions added two scores in the fourth, one from Mays from three yards out while Preston Baker scored from a yard out. White connected on one of two extra points to end the scoring at 55-0.
