North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora will host a Health Fair at the hospital on Oct. 10 from 3-6 p.m. NMMC-Eupora is located at 70 Medical Plaza.
Free and low-cost health screenings will be offered, including blood pressure checks, cholesterol and blood glucose screenings, prostate-specific antigen and bone density and body mass index readings.
A dementia tour will provide participants with a look at what a day in the life of a person with dementia is like.
The Eupora Lions Club will be collecting used eyeglasses from 3-6 p.m. and encourages the community to respond.

A benefit for William Crouch to help with medical expenses will be Oct. 12 at the Stewart Fire Department. He was hospitalized after being diagnosed with pancreatitis and has had surgery to remove his gallbladder.
Barbecue plates ($7) and hot dog plates ($5) will be on sale starting at noon. An auction will be at 3 p.m. and a cakewalk at 6 p.m. Chances are being sold on $200: one chance for $2 or three for $5.
Joe H. Morehead VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be having a cakewalk on Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at the post home located on VFW Road in Eupora. All proceeds will go toward Christmas for Veterans in area nursing homes. All donations are appreciated.
WOW Fall Festival
Fall Festival at Woodmen of the World Lodge 94 will be from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 12.
It will include jumpers, trunk-a-treat, door prizes and refreshments. “Bring the entire family for an afternoon of fun, food and fellowship.”
A gospel music jubilee will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Gore Springs Community Center.
Performers include Servants Quartet from Tennessee, Chosen Road from Tupelo, Souled Out Trio from Sturgis and the Runnels Family from Hollandale. Admission is $5.
The regular monthly meeting of the Friends of the Library will be Monday, Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Webster Public Library in Eupora. Dr. Joe Duncan will be the speaker. A light lunch will be available afterward for a nominal fee. Everyone is invited to attend.
The annual health fair will be Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Community Center in Ackerman. Drawings for door prizes will be held throughout the event. Refreshments will be served.
The health fair is sponsored by Choctaw County Farm Bureau with assistance from MSU Extension Service-Choctaw County and Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw.

The theme for Eupora High School’s 2013 Homecoming is “Timeless Tradition.” To honor the traditions that have made EHS the school it is, Eupora High is bringing back some of the traditions of past homecomings.
One of these traditions will be a change in the annual homecoming parade. Once again, all EHS students will be involved in the parade. This year the parade will feature the homecoming maids on floats designed and created by the student body. The homecoming parade, which will take place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18, will include all grades, 6-12.
Eupora High band
The Pride of Eupora High School Band is selling tickets for steak dinners. Dinner includes an 8-ounce ribeye steak, baked potato, green beans, roll, tea and dessert.

World Harvest Outreach Ministries will hold a communitywide Block Party on Main Street, Eupora on Oct. 19 from 6-9 p.m.
It will include inflatable jumpers, food vendors, cotton candy, popcorn, face painting and a dunking booth. Special guest entertainment will be Eddie James’ worship team, Excalibur.
Several local businesses on Main Street will also be open to the public. Admission is free, so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a night designed for the family.

Benefit for Tammy
A benefit for Tammy Talley Hadley, daughter of Denton and Betty Talley, will be Nov. 2 at the Stewart Fire Department on U.S. 82.
Proceeds will be used to cover funeral expenses for Ernest Clifford Hadley III.
The benefit will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Hamburger plates will be on sale for $6 and hotdog plates for $5. The benefit will include a cakewalk and auction. Raffle tickets will also be sold on chances for $100 and for a flower/fruit block quilt.
