Church sponsors back-to-school bowling bash

From Church Reports

Soul’s Haven Church had Student Recognition Day on July 21.

The program was held during the 11 a.m. worship service and began with a reading from the pastor, the Rev. James Caffey. He presented a reading titled “A Child Learns What He Lives,” which was very interesting. Then, LaDonna Caffey, pastor’s wife, came to the podium and called each student individually to the front of the sanctuary to be recognized.

As each name was called a student recognition sheet, which had been completed by the student before the recognition, was read. The information sheet contained the student’s name, age, date of birth, parents, grandparents, grade excelled to in fall 2013, hobbies and interests, future dreams and occupations, and a list of all accomplishments and achievements acquired.

After all students had been recognized, the Rev. Caffey shared a reading of “I Am” and encouraged the students to allow God to be the light that shines in their lives each day. Each student was provided with a gift of recognition and praised for all accomplishments.

Following the program, 36 of the congregation enjoyed an afternoon at Bulldog Lanes. We arrived at 1 p.m. and enjoyed “Lunch ’n Bowl” with cupcakes to compliment the meal for dessert. All of this was made possible by Soul’s Haven Church. Thanks to everyone who participated.
