Fresh off three straight victories, the Eupora High School slow-pitch softball team is set to host Vardaman today (Thursday), before entertaining Calhoun City in a district match-up on Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles defeated Mooreville 6-5 and Corinth 12-0 in the New Albany Tournament last Saturday and then took a 6-3 win over MHSAA Class 6A foe Grenada on Tuesday night.
Kendall Gibson and Hannah McDowell each had a win for EHS in the win over the Lady Chargers. “We played good defense overall,” said EHS head coach Kaley Harris, who noted that her team played “the best we have all year” in the win over Corinth.
After the two upcoming home games, the Lady Eagles will take part in the West Lauderdale Tournament on Sept. 21, before hosting Grenada on Sept. 24.
Eupora, East Webster and Calhoun City are competing to earn a spot in the playoffs, with the top two teams in the district advancing to the postseason.
Harris also noted that senior Hai-Leigh Hodges had been chosen to play in the MAC Slow-Pitch All-Star Game set for Nov. 2.
