Eupora and Mathiston’s sales tax revenues for June were down from the same month last year, new reports show.
The city of Eupora posted June collections of $36,121, down 1.4 percent from the $36,646 received in June 2012.
Eupora ended the state’s 2013 fiscal year — July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 — with a decrease of $28,625 or 6.4 percent in sales tax collections over the previous year.
Mathiston merchants took in $14,766 in June, down about 12 percent from the $16,773 collected a year earlier.
Mathiston ended the state’s fiscal year with a decrease of $9,224 or 4.6 percent in sales tax collections over the previous year.
The state’s sales tax collections have a three-month cycle. Tax is collected by the retailer one month; it is reported and paid to the state Tax Commission by the retailer the second month; and the diversion is paid to the cities by the Tax Commission the third month.
These figures reflect other area taxes collected on June sales with 2012 figures in parentheses:

• Mantee: $2,946 ($3,184)
• Walthall: $2,010 ($2,025)
