Springhill School

reunion Aug. 31

Springhill School reunion (Webster County) will be Aug. 31 beginning at 10 a.m. in the Springhill School building.

The school operated from 1927-57. Anyone who attended the school is invited, along with their spouse. Potluck lunch will be at noon; bring your favorite dish.

Greenlee reunion

The Greenlee family reunion will be Aug. 31 at the Woodmen of the World lodge in Eupora.

Organizers ask those attending to bring the dish they brought last year, and if they are bringing or inviting a friend to make a donation or bring something. Call Betty Greenlee McMullen at 258-7637 for more information.

Benefit rummage

sale for Carters

A benefit rummage sale will be from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Gore Springs Community Center. All proceeds will help Jan and Liz Carter with treatments and travel expenses.

The benefit will include a bake sale, clothes of all sizes, household and kitchen items, trinkets, toys and a J. Carter Pottery table. 333 Restaurant will be selling pulled-pork sandwiches. Area musicians will provide entertainment. Individual seller booths are welcome for a $25 set-up donation.

Tomnolen Water Association will hold its annual meeting on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Tomnolen Fire Department.

Mathiston Mus-

cadine Festival

The inaugural Mathiston Muscadine Festival will be Sept. 14 on the location of the “Red Cap” building in Mathiston on Highway 82 west.

The festival will begin at 6:30 a.m. for pre-race day registration and 7 for preregistration with the inaugural 5K run beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Red Cap. The racecourse will cross through historic downtown Mathiston. The festivities will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The activities will include arts, crafts, southern muscadine product cooking contest, live music and much more.

The festival has been recognized as a fundraiser for the Mathiston Veterans Monument by the Mathiston Economic Development and Support Council.

The Mathiston Veterans Monument is in the process of construction, and is designed to recognize 18 men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our town and our country to protect our freedom.

Applications for the arts and crafts vendors and the 5K run may be picked up at City Hall. Registration is by mail or you may pick up and drop forms at the Mathiston City Hall. Fees must be paid in advance, and no refunds are possible. The show will be held rain or shine.

Black-eyed Pea

The Mathiston Public Library has Story Hour and activities for children of all ages every Wednesday at 10 a.m.

AA meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.

Bingo at VFW

Bingo is every Saturday at 6 p.m. at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.
