The inaugural Mathiston Muscadine Festival will be Sept. 14 on the location of the “Red Cap” building in Mathiston on Highway 82 west.
The festival will begin at 6:30 a.m. for pre-race day registration and 7 for preregistration with the inaugural 5K run beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Red Cap. The race course will cross through historic downtown Mathiston. The festivities will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The activities will include arts, crafts, southern muscadine product cooking contest, live music and much more.
The festival has been recognized as a fundraiser for the Mathiston Veterans Monument by the Mathiston Economic Development and Support Council.
The Mathiston Veterans Monument is in the process of construction, and is designed to recognize 18 men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our town and our country to protect our freedom.
Applications for the arts and crafts vendors and the 5K run may be picked up at City Hall. Registration is by mail or you may pick up and drop forms at the Mathiston City Hall. Fees must be paid in advance, and no refunds are possible. The show will be held rain or shine.
