Worship on the Water at Whites Creek Lake

From Church Reports

Warm summer sunshine, cool lake water, the smell of an outdoor grill … all the things we love about an easy summer weekend. No, just add amazing worship and you have the recipe for WORSHIP ON THE WATER.

The Eupora First United Methodist Church invites the community to come and join it for an outdoor worship and fellowship experience this Sunday, Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Whites Creek Lake Park. This is the fourth year that EFUMC has hosted with outdoor summer worship service and it has become a big part of its summer programming.

“We find that having a fun and informal service is a great way to celebrate the end of summer and gear ourselves up for a busy fall of ministry,” said the Rev. Trey Harper, pastor.

This year’s service will be led by the EFUMC Youth Praise Band. “We are so proud of the faithfulness and talent of our young people,” Harper said, “and always look forward to opportunities for them to share and lead us in new ways of worship.”

The Youth Praise team regularly leads morning worship at the church on the second Sundays of each month, a time known as SECOND SABBATH. After a short summer break, this will be the first time the Youth Praise Band will be back leading worship. The preacher for this year’s Worship on the Water will be Cody Hardin.

“We have been blessed this summer to have had Cody as part of our ministry team, Harper explained. “When we unexpectedly lost our youth director in June, Cody stepped in and has done an amazing job leading our youth for the summer. In recognition of his giftedness for ministry, and the great job he has done with our youth, we wanted to provide him the opportunity to share the gospel message with the whole church.”

The church will also be greeting the new youth director, Chase DeNoon, at this year’s event.

Following worship on the lakeshore, everyone is invited to stay for hotdog cookout and to enjoy the afternoon with family and friends at the lake. For more information, contact the church office at 258-2611 or visit the church website at www.euporafumc.org, or find it on Facebook.
