Aug. 11, 1938

Derby Hill News:

Misses Margaret and Gertie Shaffer of Salt Creek spent last week with their sister, Mrs. Phronie Sellars, and attended the revival at Pine Forest.

Mrs. J.D. Sellars and baby returned home Saturday after spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. Bose Laverne and other relatives at Fulton.

Mr. Franklin and Miss Frances Weeks of Stewart spent last week with their cousins, Miss Ruth May and Mr. Rex May and attended the revival at Pine Forest.

Mrs. Ira Land and children of Lake Village, AR spent the weekend with relatives around here.

Mrs. Mattie Sellars and Mrs. Myrtle Simpson spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. Ethel Lott.

Mr. Wiley Sibley is spending this week in the delta with his brothers and sisters.

Mr. Casey Summers spent a while Sunday afternoon with Miss Pearl Tharp.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lott had as their dinner guests on Sunday, Mr. Charlie Myers and family of Morgan City.

Mr. and Mrs. Bilbo Pace and children, Ethel and Alex, of near Sturgis spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henson Bradshaw.

Mr. Jimmy Dodd of Itta Bena spent the latter part of the week with his cousin, Mr. Melvin Bradshaw.

Mr. and Mrs. George Boucher spent Sunday with Mrs. P.W. Bell and family.

Miss Icy Bell and Mrs. Evelyn Lollar spent Sunday with Mrs. Tommie Lollar.

Mr. and Mrs. Wade Threadgill spent a while Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Henson Bradshaw.

Mrs. Mag Love is visiting relatives in the delta this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bradshaw and Mr. Jimmy Dodd spent a while Thursday night in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Dill.

Mr. Billie Baker and family spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. I.L. Baker.

Mr. and Mrs. Burns Bagwell and son, James Lamar, of Flint, MI are enjoying their vacation with their many relatives back home here in Mississippi.

Mrs. Louise Graves, Mr. and Mrs. Burns Bagwell spent Wednesday with Mrs. Graves and Mr. Bagwell’s sister, Mrs. I.L. Baker.

Mrs. George Allen Hodges and family were glad to have her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Allen McCain from Louisiana visit with them recently.

Mr. and Mrs. James Tedder and sons visited recently with Mrs. I.L. Baker.

Mr. and Mrs. Burns Bagwell visited a while Wednesday in the community.

Mrs. Price visited last week with her daughter, Mrs. Lewis Edward and family.

Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Scott visited last Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Lex Scott in Tupelo.

Miss Rubye and Francis Scarbrough visited over the weekend in Columbus with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Windham.

Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Stallings went to Memphis last Thursday.

Miss Sue Davis visited part of last week in Eupora with Mrs. Rubye Bland and daughters.

Mrs. Pearl Stallings and Willard Stallings visited recently with Mr. Dillard Stalling and family in Houston.

Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Scott of Tunica visited part of last week with Mrs. John Scott.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Woods spent from Friday until Sunday visiting with Miss Gail Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Woods and children in Jackson.

Mr. and Mrs. Billy Shaw, Lisa and baby visited in Jackson with Mr. and Mrs. Bailey.

Mr. Jimmy Webb spent Wednesday and Thursday night with his mother, Mrs. Lester Webb, while attending a school meeting at MSU.

Our revival begins Sunday night. Brother Bollinger will bring the message and Charles O’Neal will direct the singing.

Mrs. Ida Farley and Sandra Gordon visited Mr. and Mrs. Allan Golding on Sunday. Mr. Powell Golding and grandson visited them on Tuesday.

Mrs. Ivy Sibley’s sisters visited her on Wednesday. The James Camp family visited her also.

Larry, Patsy and Jeannie Watson and Donna Sykes spent several days this week at Gulf Shores.

Teresa Taylor is visiting in Jackson with Kathy Johnson and Brad this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Allan Golding and Mr. Reid Golding attended the Golding reunion on Saturday in Jackson at Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lucius’s house.
