After six good years as head football coach at Eupora High School, veteran head coach Junior Graham is looking forward to his seventh.
“It just seems like yesterday when we got here,” said Graham. “We’ve really enjoyed it and had a good time.”
Graham is hoping the Eagles, who finished 14-2 last season, are ready to make another strong run.
“The kids came into practice in pretty decent shape,” he said. “We had good carry over from the spring and had good participation in the summer.”
Graham plans on dressing out 47 players this season, as the Eagles get ready to face a challenging schedule.
“There are some big dogs on the schedule that’s for sure,” he said. “We have given ourselves quite a challenge.
After hosting Leake Central in a jamboree on Aug. 16, the Eagles open the 2013 season at home against strong Class 1A foe Noxapater on Aug. 23, followed by French Camp Academy paying a visit to Eupora on Aug. 30. The FCA Panthers played in the MHSAA Class 1A State Championship Game last season.
The Eagles are on the road for the month of September. EHS visits Winona on Sept. 6 and after an open date, travels to Byhalia on Sept. 20 and Houston on Sept. 27.
After another open date on Oct. 4, the Eagles open Region 4-2A play at home against Bruce on Oct. 11 and then entertain Okolona on Oct. 18 for homecoming.
EHS visits Calhoun City on Oct. 25 and then closes out the regular season against East Webster on Nov. 1.
