From Press Reports
Golden LivingCenter and United Blood Services are looking for people in Eupora and Webster County to step out, roll up their sleeves and save lives.
“We will be at Golden LivingCenter on Thursday, Aug. 1, and we are so grateful to the director, Mr. Gerald Gary, and the recreation services director, LaDonna Caffey, for stepping up to host the blood drive there to make sure that patients in our area will have blood if and when there is a need. We are in need of all blood types, especially O-negative for double red donations and AB donors for plasma donations,” stated Roz Johnson, donor recruitment rep. “So look for the HEART on our bloodmobile when you give.”
The United Blood Services’ hospital services team works hand in hand with the lab at North Mississippi Medical Center to keep the blood supply stocked and ready for patients who need blood for transfusions because of scheduled surgeries and/or emergency trauma.
Again, the date for the blood drive is Thursday, Aug. 1, in the United Blood Services bloodmobile parked in the front parking lot of Golden LivingCenter-Eupora at 156 E. Walnut Ave. in Eupora. The hours for the blood drive are 1-6 p.m. Please feel free to schedule your appointment by calling LaDonna Caffey at 258-8293, sign up online at www.bloodhero.com or just simply walk in to the bloodmobile on Aug. 1.
All donors must be at least 16 (with a signed parent consent) — 17 years and older are not required to have a parent consent. Donors must also weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Most medications are acceptable, including insulin and blood pressure medications. A screening process before the donation will confirm the donor’s eligibility. A picture ID is required, and please be sure to eat a balanced meal and drink plenty of non-caffeinated beverages to have the best possible donation.
If you have any questions you can contact Johnson at 662-842-8871 ext 3018 or Caffey at 258-8293.
