Civic League hosting singing
The Civic League of Mathiston will be hosting a gospel singing in Mathiston’s park on July 26 beginning at 7 p.m.
Anyone interested in singing may contact Beverly Brown at 295-5147 or Betty Jeffcoats at 312-8724 to be placed on the lineup.
While the Civic League will try to accompany everyone who would like to sing, it hopes to have the lineup finalized by July 25.
This is open to soloists as well as groups. Equipment will be set up for everyone to use, whether they sing from a CD or have a musical group that will be playing.
“We will also have food for sale that night, and we invite everyone to come bring their lawn chairs and enjoy our first-ever gospel singing worshipping our Lord in song and praise.”
Houston Heat tryouts slated
Tryouts for the Houston Heat 10U fast-pitch softball team will be at 10 a.m. July 27 at the Houston High School softball field.

Country Music Jamboree July 27
A Country Music Jamboree will be at 6 p.m. July 27 at the Gore Springs Community Center. Admission is $5.
Performing will be Mike Ellis and the Hometown Band, Richard McLaughlin, Mike Hyde, Tyanne Newsom.
The annual Wiley Wright reunion will be July 28 at the VFW building on VFW Road off Hwy. 182 east of Eupora. The annual Avery-Lankford reunion will be July 28 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Duck Hill Community Center.
All descendants of Daniel Hardy Avery and his wife, Frances Simmons Avery, and descendants of Fannie Avery Hendricks Dulaney are invited to attend.
A potluck lunch will be served at noon.
Hebron Christian School reception for headmaster
A reception will be July 28 to introduce Jonathan Harper, new headmaster of Hebron Christian School.
Hebron Baptist Church will host the reception in the school’s library from 2-4 p.m.
Ice Cream Bash
The Webster County Extension Office will host an end-of-summer Ice Cream Bash from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 1 at the playground behind Eupora First United Methodist Church (fenced area across from Wise Funeral Home). Park cars on Holman.

Eupora High School open house
Eupora High School will have a sixth-grade orientation for all sixth-grade students and parents at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 in the EHS cafeteria. This will be a time to answer all questions about the transition of sixth-graders to the high school.
Eupora High School open house will be Aug. 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. for all students grades 6-12.
An athletic meeting will be at 7 p.m. in Latham Auditorium for all parents of athletes. All coaches will be there to talk about the expectations for their programs and answer any questions.
EHS Class of 1968 reunion
The Eupora High School Class of 1968 will celebrate its 45th class reunion on Aug. 3 at the Eupora Country Club.
The agenda includes a tour of EHS at 4 p.m., social hour at the Country Club at 5 and dinner at 6:30. All classmates are encouraged to attend this fun-filled day.
Peewee football/ cheerleader signup
Eupora peewee football/cheerleader registration is under way through Aug. 9 at Eupora City Hall.

Back-to-School Bash Aug. 10
Webster County Back-to-School Bash will be Aug. 10 from 2-7 p.m. at the NMMC-Eupora walking track.
The fundraiser will feature inflatable water slides and jumpers, hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, popcorn and cotton candy. July 29 is the deadline to order a “Back-to-School Bash” T-shirt.
All proceeds benefit Webster County Relay for Life. Sponsors are Murphy Medical and CB&S Bank.

United Blood Services will conduct a blood drive at Eupora First United Methodist Church on Aug. 20 from 2-7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Mathiston Public Library has Story Hour and activities for children of all ages every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story Hour is directed by Jill Carroll.
Alcoholics Anonymous meets Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora in the Education Conference Room.
