Hospital ranks high for physician communication

From Press Reports

North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora ranked tied for third on a list of the top hospitals with best physician communication, according to HCAHPS surveys.

The hospitals making the list had the highest percentage of patients who “reported that their doctors ‘always’ communicated well” in the HCAHPS survey.

The list is based on HCAHPS survey results reported in CMS’ Hospital Compare database and covered the period July 2011 through June 2012. Some hospitals were excluded from the list because of insufficient data, such as having fewer than 100 patients complete the HCAHPS survey.

The top 12 hospitals and their score were:

1. Westlake Regional Hospital (Columbia, Ky.) – 100 percent

2. East Carroll Parish Hospital (Lake Providence, La.) – 98 percent

3. NMMC-Eupora – 97 percent

3. Vidant Bertie Hospital (Windsor, N.C.) – 97 percent

3. Tyler County Hospital (Woodville, Texas) – 97 percent
